Sister to the Late UNIBEN undergraduate, #UwaOmozuwa, who was brutally raped and murdered in Edo state said she wanted to become a minister and preach the word of God.
24-year-old Judith Omozuwa, while speaking with CNN stated that even after gaining admission into the university, Uwa Omozuwa didn’t stop taking theological classes at a local parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Edo State. Judith said;
“She wanted to be a minister and preach the word of God. The church was her favorite place to be, that she was murdered where she always found peace is just devastating.”
According to Judith, Uwa usually went to the church on weekdays to study to avoid distractions from her siblings at home.
On the day her sister was attacked, Judith said she walked with her to the gate of their home before she then left for the church, not knowing that it would be the last time she’d see her alive. She said;
“Uwa complained that we made a lot of noise at home watching TV and it was getting worse now that everyone is at home.
“That day she was wearing one of my clothes and I was teasing her. “She said that is what sisters do.”
The rape and murder of Uwa Omozuwa led to social media outrage, with President Buhari also reacting to the sad incident.
Buhari, in a tweet posted on Twitter, sent his deepest condolences to the family of the deceased and he assured that the perpetrators of the evil act will be brought to justice. In his words;
“I would like to offer my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Uwaila Omozuwa. I expect the Nigeria Police Force to speedily and diligently investigate this case and ensure that all the culprits responsible for this barbaric act are brought to justice.“
