The Ogun State Executive Council has approved the proposal for the creation of the Western Nigeria Security Network codenamed Amotekun in the state.
The proposal was approved during the SEC meeting held Tuesday in the Executive Chamber of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s office.
Recall that South-West governors launched the regional security outfit in Ibadan, Oyo State on Thursday, January 9 to combat kidnapping, banditry and other violent crimes in the region.
Some prominent leaders in the north had condemned the outfit, describing it as a prelude to the declaration of Oduduwa Republic.
After initial controversy, the Federal Government finally backpedaled on the declaration of the outfit as illegal.
