All United States registered carriers have been restricted from flying over Iraq, Iran and the Arabian Gulf flowing the multiple rocket attacks on US forces in Iraq.
In a report by The PUNCH on Wednesday December 8, this restriction was issued by US Federal Aviation Administration on Tuesday night.
Although the reason for the restrictions were not specifically stated, it can however be speculated to be to avoid attacks on US civil aviation operators in the specified areas.
The notice reads;
“The (FAA) issues Notices to Airmen tonight outlining flight restrictions that prohibit US civil aviation operators from operating in the airspace over Iraq, Iran and the waters of the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman,” it said in a statement.
“The FAA will continue closely monitoring events in the Middle East.”
