A collation officer in Imo State has been arrested on live TV after he was accused of altering election results of the governorship election that held in the state.
The collation officer identified as Ehirim Kelechi, had altered the results of the election after after handling the actual polls to the party agents.
He reportedly injected more than 1,000 votes to the results.
The alteration was uncovered at the collation centre when the party agents argued that they had different results with them.
The Imo Returning Officer, Christian Ogbuagbu while comparing the results, then called for arrest of the CO.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, firstly, the results of the ward, Obitti/Mgbishi, stands cancelled because after the CO had given the results to the agents.”
“I have been advised to note that the action constitutes electoral malpractice. I hereby hand over the case to the security agents to handle.”
