Social media platform, Twitter, has suspended a user for threatening to assassinate President Muhammadu Buhari.
The user, @vikolo2000, was replying to a tweet by Mr Buhari’s new media aide, Tolu Ogunlesi, on January 12 when he made the threat.
“Stupid man. @MBuhari is a fool and so r u @toluogunlesi and if the fool wins I’ll personally assassinate him,” Vikolo2000 had tweeted on Saturday at 9:32 pm.
Mr Ogunlesi, thereafter, retweeted the controversial tweet.
“Victor, I’m RT this because I want the world to see your foolishness. If push comes to shove can you defend this nonsense you’ve just tweeted? Or will you say it’s the devil that pushed you?” Ogunlesi wrote.
The user, whose real name is Victor Odungide, has, however, created a new account claiming that his previous account was hacked.
This is my new account. My former account @vikolo2000 was suspended. For d records, d acct was hacked & those terrible tweets about assassination were not from me. I'm still in shock as to how malicious som1_can be against me 2 the extent of putting up such tweets in my name /1
