Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi, scored his second Chinese Super League goal of the season on Sunday in Tianjin TEDA’s 3-2 loss at home to Shanghai Shenhua, who were without the recuperating Obafemi Martins, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The goal ended Mikel’s 12-game goal drought in the CSL for Tianjin TEDA.
Andres Moreno scored a delightful header to give Shanghai Shenhua the lead in the 14th minute but Mikel drew Tianjin TEDA level in the 22nd minute with a simple tap in from close range.
Mikel last scored a goal for Tianjin TEDA on April 14 in his side’s 2-1 win over Guangzhou R&F in a CSL game.
Frank Acheampong scored from the penalty spot in the 30th minute to hand Tianjin TEDA a 2-1 lead.
Acheampong had a chance to make it 3-1 from the spot but his kick was saved by Shanghai Shenhua goalkeeper, Sun Li.
