BREAKING: Nicolas Jackson Signs For #Chelsea As Todd Boehly Pay More—The Genius Media reports that Former champions of Europe, Chelsea are set to seal their second signing of the summer after securing the services of super Senegal striker Nicholas Jackson (no more alliteration, I promise).
The Blues have been locked in talks with Jackson’s club Villarreal all week and appear to have finally landed their man after agreeing to pay a little more than his €35m (£30m) release clause, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Personal terms were agreed days ago and a medical has been now been scheduled, with the 22-year-old due to fly to London in the next day or so.
Jackson, who scored 12 La Liga goals in the latest campaign, has just one season of top-flight football under his belt, having broken into Villarreal’s first team towards the end of 2022, but his surprisingly-varied skillset has already been winning him plenty of plaudits.
Bournemouth very nearly signed him in January after agreeing a £20m deal for the youngster, but the move collapsed when Jackson failed his medical.
At Chelsea, he’ll be competing for a starting spot with a couple of other promising, young strikers on the club’s books in Armando Broja and David Datro Fofana, though there are indications the club could still be in the market for a more senior No9 this summer.
Nonetheless, news of Jackson’s arrival was met with excitement in Chelsea circles on social media, with some fans even labelling him “the perfect Pochettino striker”.
