Falilat Ogunkoya Hails Lead-Forte Gate Schools On The Development Of Young Talents—Two iconic sports heroes in Nigeria, Chief (Mrs.) Falilat Ogunkoya MON and Mrs. Bose Kaffo, combined as special guests of honour in the recently organised Lead-Forte Gate Schools Inter-house sports competition held on the 2nd of February, 2023.
At the event that took place at the UNILAG Sports Complex, the Nigerian track legend, Falilat Ogunkoya, called on schools to revive the culture of developing athletes from a young age. Falilat Ogunkoya expressed her satisfaction with the young talents that were on display in the various houses for the competition.
The contending Houses for the inter-house sports include Sapphire-Blue House, Onyx-Yellow Houses, Jade-Green Houses, and Garnet-Red Houses. The event was made colorful with unique competitions like Beauty Pageants, Cheer Leading, and Match Past by the different Houses.
The track events include 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m, and 4x100m relays for the Primary and College. There were other competitive events at the inter-house sports.
In the end, Sapphire-Blue House won the College Cheerleading competition. The gold medal for the College Match Past went to the Onyx-Yellow House and Jade-Green House took the silver medal. Garnet-Red House settled for the bronze medal.
For the overall results for the College, Onyx-Yellow House came 1st and the 2nd position went to Garnet-Red House. The
Sapphire-Blue House and Jade-Green House came 3rd and 4th respectively.
For the Primary category, Garnet-Red House emerged winner of both the Match Past and the Beauty pageant.
Garnet-Red House also came first in the overall competition; Sapphire-Blue House took the second position and Onyx-Yellow House came third.
The event was under the distinguished chairmanship of Mr. Valentine Amobi Izuchukwu and was well attended by Parents of the students, the Management Team, and Governing Councils of the Schools led by Dr Tunde Lemo (O.F.R.)
The PPF Chairman, Mr Emeka Sonny-Joe led the Parent’s Executives. Medical personnel and Paramedics attend to students before, during, and after each competition on the spot.
With musical entertainment from the DJ and Live Bands, among others, It was a memorable experience for the students, parents, guests, staff members, and the school management.
