LASU VC Seeks Prayers For Institution—-The Vice Chancellor, Lagos State University (LASU), Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, on Wednesday called for prayers to enhance the status of the institution.
Olatunji-Bello made the call in Lagos, at a programme tagged “LASU Community Prays”, with the theme, “Praying and Striving in the Cause of Allah; Implication For LASU”,.
She expressed her belief in the efficacy of prayers to make the university to take its pride of place in the West African region
“I believe in prayers that is why we are organising the LASU Prays.
“I urge you to pray for peace and prosperity for all members of our university community and for the attainment of our vision to become the best university in the West Africa region,” she said.
According to her, the institution belongs to people of all faiths and there is no discrimination based on any religion.
“In LASU, there is no difference between Muslims and Christians as far as I am concerned; I see you as a staff or student, not as a Muslim or Christian”.
Earlier, Prof. Rafiu Okuneye, Head of LASU Epe campus and Chairman of LASU Muslim Pray, said that the special programme was a way to seek Allah’s sustainable peace and blessing on the affairs of the institution.
“It is only sustainable peace that can ensure smooth administration, and so, this prayer will have good implication for the progress of the staff and students.
” Currently, we are enjoying peace in the university and we want it to be maintained.
“Today will not be the end of our praying though, every Friday, we specially pray for LASU in the mosque,” he said.
Also speaking, Mr Abdul Ahmad, National Missioner, Ansar-ud-Deen Society, expressed his admiration for the Vice Chancellor for her liberality and tolerance for other religions, despite her Christian faith.
Ahmad said, “Because you have accepted our religion, my hope in the unity of this country has been renewed”.
He urged staff and students of the university to have good relationship with Allah and people around them.
The missioner said that Islam is about genuine worship.
