JCI Ibadan Organises Free Digital Skill Acquisition For Young People In Ibadan [PHOTOS]—-Junior Chamber International Ibadan has organised a free digital skill acquisition program in Ibadan as part of its activities for the “SkillUP Week 2022”.
The free digital skill classes held at the Educational Advancement Centre Building in Bodija, Ibadan on Saturday, May 21st, 2022.
To deliver the training, JCI Ibadan partnered with two foremost digital skills acquisitions schools in Ibadan, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Nigeria (RAIN) and SkillNG and the aim of the training was to equip participants with in-demand modern digital skills that will help them gain sustainable means of livelihood within the digital economy in line with the JCI mission to provide development opportunities that empower young people to create positive change.
The training recorded registrations of 135 participants who applied for one of the classes available in Google App, Web design, Digital Marketing, CV writing/employment readiness and Product design. The training recorded participation from both jaycees and non-jaycees in Ibadan.
The training also featured a presentation from Chuuse, a Technology Talent Development company, to educate participants on the pathways to secure placements with tech companies after their training.
In his address, the president of JCI Ibadan, JCIN Amb. Olawale Agbomeji noted that the organisation has decided to embark on the programme in contribution to addressing rising unemployment rate amongst young people in Nigeria.
“It’s no longer news that we have many of our young people without work and more worrisome is the fact that many of them also lack modern digital skills employer are looking for. And that is why we need a synergy of purpose between the public and private entities to address these skill and employment gap.
“As an organisation devoted to the development of young active citizens, we have decided to put this free digital skills training together to contribute in the little way we can in checking the employment and skill crisis in the country” he added.
He further appreciated SkillNG and RAIN for agreeing to the partnership and he encouraged participants to take up skill development opportunities with the brands.
“Beyond today’s training, we also have extensive partnership with SkillNG and RAIN that will grant you great discounts on advanced classes with them and I enjoin the beneficiaries of today’s training to take advantage of this unique opportunities”, he concluded.
