Tennis superstar Serena Williams on Friday welcomed a baby girl at a clinic in West Palm Beach, Florida with fiancé Alexis Ohanian.
However she declined to take questions on the subject in her post-match press conference.
“I’m definitely available to answer questions about tennis. That’s all right now,” Venus told reporters.
The news was shared by WPBF-25 news producer Chris Shepherd on Twitter.
He wrote @ChrisShepherd : “Tennis star Serena Williams gives birth to a baby girl weighing 6 pounds 13 ounces. Mom and baby doing well.”
Local CBS affiliate reported Friday evening that Williams, was admitted Wednesday to St Mary’s Medical Center.
Serena won her 23rd Grand Slam at the Australian Open while pregnant.
She and Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit, a social news website, became engaged in December 2016 at the Italian restaurant where they first met.
The 23-time major winner had earlier announced that she would be taking maternity leave for the rest of 2017 with hopes to return for the Australian Open in January.
Also, according to Daily News, Ohanian has revealed plans to take six weeks of paternity leave to focus on Williams and their new bundle of joy.
Meanwhile the US Open in a tweet felicitated with Serena over the newborn.
