The former Manchester United striker joined Chelsea from Inter Milan in a big-money move in the summer.
He has scored seven Premier League goals for Chelsea, but he has struggled for regular playing time since returning from injury.
I’m not happy with the situation, this is normal,” said Lukaku at the time. “But I am a worker and I must not give up.”
Lukaku has scored in his last two Premier League games after having a private talk with Thomas Tuchel.
“I think I needed a performance like this today.
The manager has his reasons but I kept working hard,” Lukaku said after the 3-1 win over Aston Villa on 26 December.
“It’s a good win and personally for me I’m happy. Balls from crosses and the movement in the box – I try to be less static.”
He also apologized to Inter Milan fans for the way he left the club in the summer.
I want to say a big apology to the Inter fans because I think the way I left should have been different,” he added in his Sky Sport Italia interview.
“I really hope in the depths of my heart to return to Inter, not at the end of my career, but at a still good level to hopefully win more.”
