“The event today is significant, historic because this is the only time in my political career that young men and women in this country have come together, without my knowledge to contribute their own hard-earned money to buy this nomination form and expression of interest form.”
Atiku Abubakar, presidential aspirant contesting on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) shed a few tears, on Friday, at a programme organised by his supporters to present him the PDP expression of interest form and the presidential nomination form.
Atiku broke down as one of his supporters lamented, what she described as the current situation of the country.
The supporters, under the aegis of the Atiku Support Group (ASG), thereafter, presented him with the forms, stating that it was another way of showing support for his candidacy.
The form cost N12 million.
Responding to the gesture, Atiku said: “Today has turned out to be one of the most emotional days in decades of my political career.
“The event today is significant, historic because this is the only time in my political career that young men and women in this country have come together, without my knowledge to contribute their own hard-earned money to buy this nomination form and expression of interest form.”
He thanked the ASG for the effort and restated his commitment to work towards developing the country, in line with his campaign promises.
