US Rapper, Cardi B Wins $30 Million Legal Battle With Former Manager—-American rapper Cardi B has won a $30 million battle with her former manager Klenord “Shaft” Raphael.
The genius Media nigeria reports that In 2018, Shaft filed a $10 million breach of contract lawsuit against Cardi B, as he claimed the rapper tossed their agreement aside to sign with Quality Control.
His original lawsuit also stated that he helped with Cardi B’s breakthrough in the music industry by securing her appearance on “Love & Hip Hop” reality show and connecting the rap star to publishers and producers who created her hit song “Bodak Yellow.”
However, Cardi B and her team denied these allegations, as they later filed a $30 million counterclaim accusing Shaft of playing her since she originally signed her deal without a lawyer present.
Cardi B claimed Shaft did not provide accurate accounts of her earnings, as well as taking bigger percentage of her money illegally, thereby breaching their agreement.
Shaft’s lawsuit halted Cardi’s recording career and millions in royalties from her label Atlantic Records, all while at the height of her career. After two years, Cardi’s lawsuit has been entirely dismissed with prejudice, which means neither party involved can bring the other back into court.
“This action, including all claims and counterclaims, is hereby dismissed in its entirety with prejudice against all parties. The parties have further agreed that all parties to this action shall bear their own costs and attorney’s fees,” the document reads.
