Speaker Nancy Pelosi Wins Reelection Bid to Lead Democrats in US House—80-years-old Nancy Pelosi has on Wednesday being re-elected by US Democratic lawmakers to lead the party into the Joe Biden era.
She will be presiding over their narrow House majority as the most powerful person in Congress having defeated Steny Hoyer and James Clyburn to retain her position as leader, one she has held since 2003.
“Congratulations to @SpeakerPelosi, once again elected by House Democrats to be our fearless leader and nominee for Speaker of the House for the 117th Congress!” the Democratic caucus tweeted.
A formal House floor vote for the speakership occurs in January after the new congressional session begins, and shortly before Biden takes office as the 46th US.
