FRESH: Egypt Set To Deport 7 Nigerians Who Held #EndSARS Protest – Dabiri-Erewa—–Following the arrest of seven Nigerians in Egypt for participating in an #EndSARS protest, the chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa has announced that they will be facing deportation.
The reason for this is that the protest was held in front of the Nigerian High Commission in Cairo without a permit, except for the eighth person who will be freed because he has a residency permit.
She gave this update in a tweet on Monday, November 2nd adding that the eight person will have to sign an undertaking not to be involved in unauthorized activities while still in the country.
The NIDCOM chairman wrote;
“Update on the 8 Nigerians detained in Cairo for protesting without a permit 7 of them are to be deported to Nigeria for for lack of resident permits. The only one that has Residency will get final clearance from the Minister of Interior.”
“After signing an undertaking not go against laws of Egypt. The Nigerian mission in Egypt is still appealing for leniency on behalf of the seven slated for deportation.”
