President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday trekked from his home in Daura to the Eid prayer ground in Daura to observe the Morning Eid prayer, an 800km walk.
The President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, has described the president’s walk as a means to show his supporters that he is fit & able to rule the country for another 4 years & also to serve as a response to the former speaker of the National House of Assembly who is the current Governor of Sokoto state, Hon Aminu Tambuwal.
Tambuwal has in a previous message to his supporters & Nigerians as a whole said the President isn’t hale & hearty enough to seek re-election. He said the president is just a figurehead occupying the post of the number one citizen of the country and as such his government is being run by a cabal.
Also, he said he believed in the president’s Courage, integrity & patriotism that is why he & his people supported the president’s aspiration back in 2015 but now it is obvious the country needs an agile candidate to lead the country to the promised land.
In recent events, One of the Oppositions People Democratic Party, PDP Presidential Aspirant, Atiku Abubakar has mocked the
move by the president & his people saying “I regularly jog more than a mile & exercise, but it will be pedestrian of me to ask
Nigerians to vote for me because of that.” Atiku on his twitter handle, @Atiku said this and also adding “I want my party – the
PDP, and Nigerians, to vote for me because I WORK not because I WALK. I will work to create jobs. I won’t walk to create
an illusion”

The move by Mr President to show the world that he is fit to run for the second term has also received widespread criticism from
citizens of the country and foreigners who took turns to shade the president about his “Walking Skills” on social media.
