FUEL/TARIFF HIKE: Federal Government And Labour Meeting Postponed—The recent increase in electricity tariff and petrol prices in the nation led to a round table discussion between the Nigerian Labour Union and the Nigerian government in Abuja on Thursday. However, due to lack of consensus, it was postponed till Monday, September 28.
According to Ayuba Wabba the President of the NLC, discussions would continue on the 28th, by 3pm, This was the same day the union had set to commence its nationwide strike until the National Industrial Court has granted an interim injunction restraining them until all discussions were complete.
The order was granted by Justice Ibrahim Galadima pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice. Also the Inspector General of Police and the Director General, Department of State Services (DSS), were ordered to protect workers at offices from harassment by NLC and TUC.
