Comedian MC Mbakara has been roasted for washing wife’s underwear
The Genius Media Nigerian comedian and actor, Aya Mbakara Kanu, popularly known as MC Mbakara, has ignited a firestorm of criticism after a video of him washing his wife’s underwear went viral.
The clip, shared by Instablog9ja, showeds Mbakara performing the domestic chore as his wife, Rajunor Aya, stands by.
The comedian intended the act as a bold statement on gender roles and domestic responsibilities, advocating for men to be more involved in household chores and to express love through actions.
In the video, Mbakara passionately encourages other men to follow suit, stating, “Husbands hear me well, when last did you wash your wife’s pants or her clothes? Some of you don’t know how to be romantic or make a woman feel good. What’s there? What’s pants? It is not like you should do it every time. Just pick a few of her clothes and pants and wash them. Just wash her stuff and make her feel good. Go and buy your wife the type of pants you like because some women wear buba as pants.”
However, the video has sparked outrage among many Nigerians who have condemned Mbakara’s actions as disrespectful and exploitative. Critics argue that the stunt was merely a ploy for attention and that it objectified his wife by publicly displaying her personal items.
The controversy surrounding the video has ignited a broader conversation about gender roles, domestic labor, and the appropriate use of social media platforms.
