BREAKING: Amid Chaos, Morocco Defeat Argentina In 1st Football Match At #Paris2024 Olympics—During the first football match of the 2024 Paris Olympics which was between Argentina and Morocco earlier today, July 24, there were safety concerns due to crowd trouble.
The football match was disrupted when fans threw objects onto the field, and some individuals wearing Morocco colours ran onto the pitch in protest of Cristian Medina’s equalizer in the 16th minute of additional time in the second half.
Morocco were leading 2-1 in Saint Etienne when the spectators’ trouble started over Argentina’s equalizing goal, which came one minute after the actual 15 minutes of additional time.
The situation led to the intervention of riot police, and the game was temporarily suspended with the fans of both football teams asked to exit the stadium.
After the delay which lasted for almost two hours, the match resumed in an empty stadium. It was then revealed that Argentina’s potential equalizer had been ruled out for offside following a lengthy video review as the teams played three more minutes before the game officially ended.
The football match ended with Morocco winning 2-1. This victory puts Morocco in a good position as they aim for a gold medal in the 2024 Olympics.
On the other hand, Argentina, led by former player Javier Mascherano, will need positive results in their upcoming matches to advance to the quarter-finals.
