BREAKING: France Captain, Kylian Mbappe Out Of Euro 2024 Due To Broken Nose?—-KYLIAN MBAPPE was left covered in blood after the French star took a hit to the face against Austria in their Euro 2024 group clash.
Mbappe appeared to break his nose after mistiming a header and smacking his head against Austrian defender Kevin Danso’s shoulder – meaning he will now have to wear a mask for the remainder of the tournament.
And in a bizarre five-minute period that followed, Mbappe found himself booked.
The new Real Madrid arrival had received medical treatment on the pitch for his busted nose and as such was forced to take to the sidelines before he could be reintroduced by the referee.
But the 25-year-old took matters into his own hands and instead of patiently waiting to be introduced, he made his way back onto the pitch without permission from the officials.
And after doing so he immediately flopped to the floor and sat down on the turf.
The bizarre situation appeared to be a time-wasting tactic with France holding on to a narrow 1-0 lead against the Austrians.
It seemed as if France manager Didier Deschamps had told Mbappe to head back out on the pitch in order to stop the game again.
And Deschamps himself was booked by the referee for his involvement.
Manchester United and Ireland legend Roy Keane was less than impressed with the antics and slammed Mbappe’s decision to re-enter the pitch after the match.
Speaking on ITV, he said: “To go back out and sit on the pitch? He deserved that yellow card. You hate to see it.”
While fans felt sympathy for Mbappe’s nasty injury.
On social media one wrote: “I’d say that nose doesn’t look good.”
While another added: “We feel for you, Mbappe. Chin up man.”
And a third joked: “Just a hunch but I think Mbappe MIGHT have broken his nose.”
Mbappe was finally substituted due to his injury in the 90th minute with Olivier Giroud replacing the attacker.
Prior to his exit Mbappe had looked electric on the ball, but had one moment he would like to forget.
The former PSG man was through on goal and uncharacteristically stuck a golden opportunity wide.
But fortunately it didn’t impact the result as France were able to get their Euros off to a winning start with a 1-0 win.
Mbappe will now have to wear a mask to continue playing in the tournament after Deschamps explained he likely did break his nose.
