BREAKING: Thiago Silva Re-Join Fluminense Ahead Of Chelsea Exit [PHOTO]—-Thiago Silva will re-join Fluminense in the summer after it was announced last week of his decision to leave Chelsea.
The 39-year-old will return to Brazil a bit earlier than anticipated with the two clubs agreeing that he can join up with his new teammates after the final game of the season at home to Bournemouth. A statement from Chelsea read: “Following four seasons with Chelsea, Thiago Silva will depart after our final game of the Premier League season against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge and re-join Brazilian club Fluminense.
“Chelsea have agreed with Thiago that he can join up early with his new teammates after signing a two-year contract with the Brazilian club. Thiago will be allowed to train with Fluminense prior to his registration transferring on July 1.”
He left Fluminense, where he began his professional career, in the 2009/10 term to begin his European career with AC Milan, where he played three seasons before moving to the Parc des Princes.
The centre-back started playing in the Premier League in the 2020/21 season when he decided to try his luck in London after leaving Paris Saint-Germain, where he played for eight seasons. He joined Chelsea as a free agent and went on to win the Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup.
The Brazil international had been heavily linked with a return to his boyhood club Fluminense but he denied rumours of his exit from the English top-flight on a couple of occasions. However, the wishes of Brazilian fans have come true.
Fluminense announced on Tuesday that Thiago Silva will return to the Brazilian league to spend the final years of his professional career. “Home again,” they wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
