BREAKING: Borussia Dortmund Join Chelsea, Others To Qualify For FIFA Club World Cup 2025 – #RBLeipzig—Borussia Dortmund have become the 9th UEFA team to qualify for the expanded FIFA Club World Cup which takes place in the United States.
Following RB Leipzig’s elimination from this seasons Champions League, Dortmund have now ensured they will finish above Leipzig in the rankings and will join Chelsea, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, PSG, Inter, Porto and Benfica.
Borussia Dortmund have become the 20th team to book their place at the inaugural Mundial de Clubes FIFA™.
The new 32-team competition, which will take place in the United States during June and July 2025, features clubs from each of the six confederations, competing for the title of world champions.
With 12 spots open at Mundial de Clubes FIFA 25™ for European teams, the winners of the UEFA Champions League over the last three seasons – Manchester City, Real Madrid and Chelsea – have already secured their places
Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan, Porto and Benfica have filled five more of the berths via the ranking pathway for UEFA clubs, based on their Champions League performances over the past four seasons, including the current campaign.
The winners of the current edition of the UEFA Champions League, which concludes with the final in London on 1 June, will take one spot with the next three best ranked teams on the qualification pathway joining them in the US.
In the event of a club winning two or more editions of the confederation’s premier club competition during the 2021-2024 period, the ranking pathway will be used to grant access.
A cap of two clubs per country will be applied to the access list with an exception in cases where more than two clubs from the same country win the confederation’s premier club competition over the four-year period.
Borussia Dortmund are now assured of a place at the tournament via the ranking pathway at least, following RB Leipzig’s exit from the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Real Madrid in the Round of 16.
Leipzig are out of the qualification reckoning as they will not be able to match Dortmund’s ranking score and, with Bayern Munich already qualified, both of the places open to teams from Germany have now been filled.
Other confederations have similar qualifying procedures. As it stands the teams who have officially made it are:
