BREAKING: Luis Suárez Joins Lionel Messi At Inter Miami After Parting Ways With #Gremio Scoring Game-Winning Goal?—After netting the game-winning goal in his final game for Gremio Sunday Night, Luis Suárez is set to join Lionel Messi at Inter Miami after confirmation that he’s set to leave Gremio.
The 36-year-old joined Gremio from Nacional last year, and has scored 26 times in 51 appearances for the Brazilian side.
Suarez has guided Gremio to three trophies in his two years at the club, but his contract expires later this month.
The former Liverpool striker left Europe for South America in 2021 after two seasons with Atletico Madrid.
His move to Diego Simeone’s side came after six years at Barcelona, where he became best friends with Lionel Messi.
The Argentine, of course, joined Inter Miami earlier this year and the likes of Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba have already joined him in Florida.
But now Suarez, who is available on a free transfer and would not take a designated player spot, is set to join the Argentine at David Beckham’s side.
Gremio’s coach admitted on Saturday that Suarez’s time at the club is over.
‘Are we going to miss him? Certainly, without a doubt, he is very loved by everyone,’ said Gaucho.
‘I had the pleasure of working with a great professional, one of the best in the world, fourth highest scorer in the world. This void will remain for the next year, because it’s not easy to find someone of his talent and ability.
‘When you find someone else, it’s unfeasible to bring him in financially. Unfortunately, as I said before, it was very difficult for him to stay. Everyone wanted it, but only he could reverse this decision.
‘Unfortunately, he will leave and there will be this vacuum in Gremio’s attack. Then it’s up to the board and president to try and find another striker.
‘It was a great pleasure, not only for me but for the whole club. A guy who always gave himself, an exemplary professional.’
