FRESH: Argentine Professional, Diego Simeone Renews Contract With Atletico Madrid [PHOTO]—The Genius Media Nigeria reports that Argentine professional football manager, Diego Simeone, has renewed his contract with Spanish club, Atletico Madrid.
Simeone who joined the club in December 2011, has now agreed to a new contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2027. The club announced this in an official statement on Thursday, Naija News reports.
Atletico Madrid stated that their institution has experienced great success under Simeone’s leadership. The Argentine, who was a former midfielder for the club, holds the record for coaching the most games in their history, with 642 matches.
During his tenure, Simeone has won eight trophies, including two Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, two Europa League trophies, two European Super Cups, and one Spanish Super Cup.
The team also reached the finals of the Champions League in 2014 and 2016. Out of the 642 matches he has overseen, Simeone has achieved an impressive 380 victories and a defeat rate of only 18 per cent. Currently, Atletico Madrid is positioned fourth in the Liga table.
Meanwhile, Fede Valverde has extended his contract with Spanish La Liga giants, Real Madrid, until June 30, 2029, and the deal comes with a one billion euros release clause.
Recall that Valverde joined Real Madrid from Ukrainian side Peñarol on July 22, 2016, for a transfer fee worth €5 million. He started his life at Real Madrid at the club’s football academy, RM Castilla, Naija News reports.
The 25-year-old Ukrainian midfielder gained promotion to the club’s senior team on July 1, 2018. Since then, the Ukrainian international has scored 19 goals and provided 18 assists in 220 games in all competitions.
Valverde has helped Real Madrid to win one UEFA Champions League title, two FIFA Club World Cups, two La Liga, two UEFA Super Cups, one Spanish Cup, and two Spanish Super Cups.
“Real Madrid C. F. and Fede Valverde have agreed on an extension to the player’s contract which will see him stay at the club until 30 June 2029”, the club said via their official website.
“Valverde arrived at Real Madrid in July 2016 at just 18 years of age. In his six years playing for the first team, he has quickly become one of the best central midfielders in world football.”
Fede Valverde is the 4th youngster who got a new contract extension from Real Madrid in the last two weeks. Before the Ukrainian midfielder signed his contract extension, Eduardo Camavinga, Vinicius Junior, and Rodrygo had extended their deals with a one billion euro release clause each.
