BREAKING: Miracle As #Jesus Helps #Arsenal Beat #Sevilla In #UCL Clash—-Arsenal are back in command of Group B in the UEFA Champions League following a 2-1 victory over La Liga side Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium. Gabriel Martinelli gave the Gunners the lead on the stroke of half time before his compatriot Gabriel Jesus scored a screamer to make it two after the break. Nemanja Gudelj headed in a consolation for the home side.
Arsenal’s Brazilian forward #09 Gabriel Jesus celebrates scoring his team’s second goal during the UEFA Champions League 1st round day 3 Group B football match between Sevilla FC and Arsenal at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium in Seville
Gabriel Jesus played a starring role with a goal and an assist as Arsenal moved top of UEFA Champions League Group B with a 2-1 win in Sevilla.
The Brazilian striker produced a sensational turn and pass to send Gabriel Martinelli through to round Orjan Nyland and roll in the opener in first-half stoppage time.
Martinelli had earlier been thwarted by the Sevilla stopper in a similar situation while Lucas Ocampos and Youssef En-Nesyri went close for the hosts in an otherwise cagey first period.
Arsenal stepped up a gear following the break and Jesus followed up that bewitching assist with an equally brilliant solo strike, cutting in from the left and curling a splendid shot into the far corner.
Sevilla looked shell-shocked but grabbed a lifeline just prior to the hour when Nemanja Gudelj nodded in a right-wing corner.
The goal completely revitalised the Andalusians and they forced the visitors back for the remainder of the contest without being able to engineer an equaliser.
The result sees Arsenal rise to the summit of the pool with six points from three matches played.
Lens are second on five with Sevilla third on two points, ahead of PSV on goal difference.
Arsenal will now switch focus back to the Premier League and a home match with rock-bottom Sheffield United on Saturday. Sevilla, who sit 13th in La Liga, visit Cadiz.
