BREAKING: Tear-Gassing #Mohbad Mourners And Sympathisers Could Lead To #EndSARS Level Uprising If…—-The Genius Media Nigeria reports that Popular author, lawyer and Former media aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Bemigho Reno Omokri has sent a strong warning to Lagos State Police command aftermath teargassing Nigerians who gathered at the Muri Okunola Park in Victoria Island, Lagos State, to pay tribute to Ilerioluwa Aloba (Mohbad), a popular Nigerian artiste who passed away on September 12 under mysterious circumstances.

He made this known via his official X platform.

This is coming after Lagos Police revealed Why they used tear gas to disperse mourners. The command said some persons started gathering at the Lekki Toll Gate with intent to manifest objectives extraneous to the #justiceforMohbad initiative flouting agreement with the organizers of the candle light procession that the procession was to end at 8pm latest and should terminate at Muri Okunola, Victoria Island.

Recall, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, also known as Mohbad, was a young Nigerian rapper, singer, and songwriter.
Mohbad passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at the age of just 27, prompting fury on social media with the hashtag #Justice4Mohbad as well as in the streets, where his supporters are calling for an investigation into circumstances surrounding his death.

Because there are numerous stories of the events leading up to his death, the exact cause of death is still uncertain. Several blogs reported that Mohbad had an ear infection which made him visit a hospital.
He reportedly passed away in Ikorodu, Lagos, after receiving an injection from an auxiliary nurse. No family member or other sources have corroborated the claim.

Reacting to the bloody event, reno highlight the sensitivity and emotive issue that was if not handled tactfully, could lead to an #EndSARS level uprising. He further advise The police to use non-violent and non-threatening means to contain the crowd. To avoid reoccurrence, I called on the Inspector General of Police to call the Lagos State Police Command to order and ensure this does not reoccur

He wrote;

Tear-gassing mourners and sympathisers at the MohBad candlelight memorial by the police was most unwise. Most unwise indeed. The police should have used non-violent and non-threatening means to contain the crowd. This is a very sensitive and emotive issue that, if not handled tactfully, could lead to an #EndSARS level uprising (God forbid). There are people with their own motives, which are very different from the pure and undefiled intentions of the majority of the crowd. These people are waiting to turn these gatherings into something else. The police should not play into their hands. Currently, Lagos and other flashpoints are coated with oil from disgruntled politicians, who are looking for a spark to set off a conflagration. Wisdom is profitable to direct. I call on the Inspector General of Police to call the Lagos State Police Command to order and ensure this does not reoccur. And to assuage the hurt, it would be expedient if the Lagos State Police Command would issue an apology. This started on social media and has gone into the real world and exceeded Nigeria. If wise policing methods are not employed, there is no telling how far, fast and wide this can spread. A word ought to be sufficient to the wise.
