BREAKING: Rasmus Hojlund Officially Signs For Manchester United From #Atalanta [VIDEO/PHOTO]—-Manchester United have signed Denmark international Rasmus Hojlund from Serie A club Atalanta.
The 20-year-old was believed to be the primary striker transfer target for United when a deal to sign England’s all-time record goalscorer Harry Kane became unattainable. Hojlund is expected to play regularly for United in the 2023-24 Premier League season following the departure of Wout Weghorst.
Manchester United have completed the signing of Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta for a reported £72 million.
The 20-year-old striker joins the Old Trafford club on a five-year deal with the option of a further year.
“It is no secret that I have been a fan of this great club since I was a small boy and I dreamed of walking out at Old Trafford as a Manchester United player,” Hojlund said.
“I am incredibly excited by this opportunity to turn that dream into a reality and I am determined to repay the faith that the club has shown in me.”
Hojlund scored nine Serie A goals for Atalanta last season after joining from Austrian club Sturm Graz.
The Serie A club were believed to be not interested in a money-plus-players deal which was reported to include midfielders Fred and Donny van de Beek.

“It is still early in my career but I know that I am ready to make this step up and play with this group of world-class players,” Hojlund added.
“Once I had spoken to the manager I knew that this environment would be perfect for my development.
“I am relishing the opportunity to work with one of the best coaches in the world. Under his guidance and support I know that I am capable of achieving great things, together with my new team-mates at this special club.”
Hojlund became a priority signing for United this transfer window as a deal for Tottenham striker Harry Kane became too expensive due to Financial Fair Play restrictions imposed on the club.
Hojlund becomes United’s third signing of the summer. Mason Mount arrived from Chelsea for a £55m fee before a deal was completed to sign goalkeeper Andre Onana from Ajax.
United are reportedly keen to also bring in a new central midfielder and a backup goalkeeper before the summer transfer window closes on September 1.
