BREAKING: Simon Ekpa Charged By #Finland For International Terrorism—-Following the summoning of Finnish Ambassador Leena Pylvanainen by the Nigerian government, Finland is reportedly considering bringing terrorism charges against Simon Ekpa.
ENigeria Newpaper reports that Leena Pylvanainen on Wednesday had an extensive closed-door meeting with Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affair, Geoffrey Onyema where issues bordering on the activities of Nigerian-Finnish Biafran agitator Simon Ekpa were discussed.
Ekpa, a self-styled follower of the imprisoned Indigenous People of Biafra leader Nnamdi Kanu, has been advocating for the restoration of the Biafra Republic and has demanded that elections in the South-East of Nigeria be boycotted until Kanu is freed.
He has persisted in his Monday sit-at-home protest over the Department of State Services’ (DSS) ongoing detention of Kanu despite numerous court rulings mandating his unconditional release.
ENigeria Newspaper reports that only recently, Ekpa announced a five-day sit-at-home protest from February 23 to 28. This development caused many Easterners to worry that the presidential election would be thrown off course.
In reaction to these worries, Geoffrey Onyeama, the minister of foreign affairs, summoned Leena Pylvanainen, the Finnish ambassador to Nigeria, on Tuesday to voice Nigerian government’s displeasure over Simon Ekpa’s alleged orders to his hordes of followers, who then allegedly engaged in killing, maiming, burning, and other destructive activities.
In letter seen by ENigeria Newspaper and personally undersigned by the Finnish Prime Minister, Sanna Mirella Marin, Simon Ekpa was mandated to immediately call off the planned sit at homes by pronouncing same media outlets he used for “illegal pronouncement”.
Ekpa was asked to reverse course within 48 hours or face arrest along with international terrorism charges.
NB: In his latest tweet moments, Ekpa had however dismissed the letter fake.
