BREAKING: #Bayelsa Governor Loses Father [PHOTO]—The Bayelsa State governor, Douye Diri, has lost his father, Abraham Michael Joseph Diri, over circumstances yet to be made public.
According to Tribune, the news of Douye’s father’s death was made known in a statement on Sunday.
The statement which is signed by Jothan Diri, on behalf of the Diri Family of Kalama-Owei Wari in Sampou Community in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area, disclosed that Pa Diri passed at the age of 88 years.
Jothan further said that Pa Diri, until his death, was a retired Headmaster, devout Christian, and man of exemplary humility.
He added that the deceased lived a fulfilled life and funeral arrangement will be announced in due course.
He said: “the Diri family and the entire Sampou community are consoled that our dear brother and father lived a fulfilled life. Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.”
The Governor in a statement on Sunday through his Director-General, New Media, Mr. Kola Oredipe said Diri is fully committed to the PDP.
The declaration by the Governor’s camp follows a call by a former Deputy Governor of the State, Chief Peremobowei Ebebi, at the weekend, during a stakeholders meeting of the APC in Ekeremor Local Government Area, for Diri to jump ship and join the APC as some other Governors have done.
