BREAKING: #Chelsea To Sign Enzo Fernandez On #DeadlineDay—Chelsea fans are convinced that the club have sent representatives to Lisbon in order to finalise a deal for Benfica’s Enzo Fernandez, after discovering flight logs which revealed details over a trip to Portugal.
The Blues have been in pursuit of the Argentina midfielder all transfer window and are now closing in on a £105million deal for the World Cup winner.
In anticipation of the transfer, users online were quick to spot flight logs showing a return trip planned from Farnborough to Lisbon throughout deadline day – in the same plane that the Blues used to secure Joao Felix’s loan earlier this month.
Data revealed that a private jet over was flying to Lisbon from Farnborough (right beside their training ground) on transfer deadline day.
Fans were quick to point out that it was the same plane that went to Madrid one day before the club announced the signing of Felix and was also in Amsterdam the day before a deal for Noni Madueke was announced.
While a deal for Fernandez is close, after the Blues triggered the release clause in his Benfica contract, there are still final details that need to be ironed out.
It’s understood that the Todd Boehly’s side have submitted a £105million offer that they plan to stagger across one large payment and five later payments.
Chelsea, who confirmed the £26.3m signing of Malo Gusto from Lyon on Sunday, had an offer of around £75m plus bonuses rejected for Fernandez earlier in the month.
Fernandez has been very public in his attempts to leave the Portuguese club during the January transfer window – giving the Blues confidence in securing a deal.
Not only would the transfer for Fernandez eclipse their own record but it would surpass the record-breaking £100million figure that Man City paid Aston Villa for Jack Grealish in 2021.
Chelsea have already bolstered their squad this month with several signings – including David Datro Fofana, Benoit Badiashile, Andrey Santos, Joao Felix, Mykhailo Mudryk, Noni Madueke and Malo Gusto.
There have also been rumours of potential outgoings from west London, with league rivals Arsenal pursuing a deal for midfielder Jorginho.
Chelsea are open to selling Jorginho with the midfielder’s contract expiring this summer, while the potential arrival of Enzo Fernandez would push the former Napoli man further down the pecking order.
