#DSS Breaks Silence On Arresting CBN Governor, #Emefiele—-The Genius Media Nigeria reports that The Department of State Services (DSS) on Monday evening denied that its operatives invaded the headquarters of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Abuja, allegedly condoning off the office of the embattled governor of the apex bank, Godwin Emefiele.
TGM gathered that reports had emerged on Monday afternoon that the nation’s secret police stormed the CBN headquarters and condoned Emefiele’s office.
But reacting to those reports, the DSS Spokesman, Peter Afunanya, described the reported invasion of the CBN by DSS operatives with a view to arresting Emefiele, as fake news.
“The attention of the Department of State Services (DSS) has been drawn to the false news making the round that its operatives invaded the Central Bank of Nigeria and arrested its Governor, today 16/1/23.
“This is fake news and quite misleading,” the DSS said in a statement.
There has been drama regarding the whereabouts of Emefiele in the last few weeks.
The absence of the Governor of the apex bank came to light last December when he failed to show up at the National Assembly to explain the reason behind the naira redesign and cash withdrawal limits.
