BREAKING: Wesley #Fofana OUT Till Next Year—–The Genius Media Nigeria reports that Wesley Fofana will be without the club at least after the world cup.
Graham Potter provided injury updates on Wesley Fofana, Reece James and N’Golo Kante ahead of #Chelsea‘s Premier League visit to Villa Park to face Aston Villa.
James, 22, sustained an injury during the 2-0 win over AC Milan on Tuesday, while Kante has not featured since the 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in August.
Fofana, meanwhile, injured his knee in the 3-0 home victory against Milan last Wednesday.
And on Friday, head coach Graham Potter gave an update on all three players.
On James, Potter said: “He’s due to see a specialist over the weekend. Until we get that, there’s not too much I can add. It would be speculation on my perspective.
“Let’s wait and see. There is no point looking in the doomsday scenario yet.”
And on Kante, who had been in the final stages of his rehabilitation, Potter said: “Again he’s due to see a consultant at the weekend. It’s a setback so it’s not good news. But anything other than that, at this stage I can’t give you any more.
“Historically, there are things which have happened which are a concern and we need to get the bottom of that.
“It’s a setback in the last stage of his rehab so again that’s worrying. But all we can do is get the right diagnosis, the right consultation and then try help him get back to full fitness and enjoying his football.”
Potter then confirmed that Fofana will be out long term, saying: “He is just progressing where he was. I don’t think we will see him before the World Cup.”
Chelsea are back in action at Aston Villa on Sunday, before a trip to Brentford on Wednesday.
