CROSS RIVER 2023: Aspirant Seeks Level Playing Ground For Primaries—-A governorship aspirant in Cross River, Mr Chris Agara, has called on the leadership of the All Progressive Congress in the state to create a level playing ground for all aspirants during the primaries.

Agara made the call in Calabar when he visited the leadership of the party to intimate them of his intention to run for the office of governor in 2023.

He said that all the party needed before going into the general elections in 2023 was to create a level playing ground that would produce the most acceptable and popular candidates.

Agara, a business mogul, urged the leadership of the party to give his aspiration the necessary support and encouragement to get the party’s ticket.

“I have come here today to inform the leadership of our great party of my intention to contest the 2023 governorship election in the state.

“As we gradually step into the primaries, I wish to appeal to the leadership of the party to create a level playing ground for all aspirant during the primaries.

“At this point, the party should critically look for someone who has a wide grassroots acceptability, contact, content and good blueprint for the development of the state.

“My interest is to see how much I can support what Gov. Ben Ayade has done. So far, he has done a lot in the area of industrialisation and I want to take them further,” he said.

He described Ayade as a great planter who has done so much for the state.

He added that what Cross River needs now was a harvester who knows the terrain so that the people can reap the dividends of democracy continually.

Agara, who likened governance to farming, disclosed that Ayade industrialisation stride was a huge force to reckon with.

He noted that he is one of the best persons to do the job of harvesting come 2023 in a bid to take the state to the next level.

On his part, the Chairman of APC in the state, Mr Alphonsus Eba, said it was imperative to set the records straight that the party has not zoned the governorship seat to any zone or individual.

He however, charged aspirants vying for various positions in 2023 to note that the ticket was in the hands of the electorate in the villages and at the grassroots level.

“Coming to the party secretariat does not guarantee anyone the ticket, the party’s ticket is in the hands of the electorate; but I can assure you of our utmost support,” he said
