ITS OFFICIAL!!! Sergio Aguero Emotionally Quits Football—Manchester City Legend and Argentine professional footballer Sergio Leonel Agüero del Castillo, Popularly known as Kun Agüero has officially retired from football
The Former Barcelona forward made this known in a press conference due to a heart condition.
Aguero moved to Camp Nou on a free transfer in the summer following his departure from Manchester City, having spent the previous 10 years of his career at Etihad Stadium.
A calf injury saw the 33-year-old miss the start of the season at Barca, and he only ended up making five appearances for the club before a serious health scare ruled him out of action indefinitely.
At the press conference he said:
Sergio Aguero:
“This conference is to announce I have decided to stop playing professional football. It is a very difficult moment. The decision I have taken for my health; the problem I had a month and a half ago. I have been in good hands with the medical staff. I made the decision 10 days ago after doing everything possible to have some hope of playing on. I am very proud for my career. I always dreamed of a professional career since the first time I touched a ball at five
“People saying playing football is easy. It isn’t. Every day you are traveling, training, playing. I think most people have great respect for players. I am sure I will be connected to the game still and I can enjoy life a little bit more.
“I am not going to be anyone for a while!”
On how he thinks he should be remembered: “I would prefer that people say what I deserve. I don’t know. I am not the person who can decide that.”
“When a player plays, they always want to keep winning more things, but I think I can be happy with the titles I won. Anyone can always do a bit more, but I think I did my best for me and my clubs. You play as a team not an individual and everything I did was for my club.”
“I want to thank Atletico Madrid who took a chance on me when I was 18 and Manchester City, everyone knows who I feel about City and how well they treated me there.”
