Israel Donates Computer Classroom To Nigeria To Boost E-Learning—The Israeli government has donated a computer classroom with accessories worth 10, 000 dollars to a school in FCT, to boost effective teaching and learning in the nation’s education sector.
The computer classroom was donated on Friday, by the Embassy to the Revival Academy International School (RAIS), located in Dutse Apo, FCT.
The Charge d’ Affairs of Israel to Nigeria, Mr Yotam Kreiman, inaugurated the computer classroom in memory of Sarah Aaronsohn, an Israeli National Hero, who gave her life to save many more.
Yotam, who is also the Acting Ambassador of Israel to Nigeria, said that the donation of Sarah Aaronsohn Computer Classroom was to encourage the school to continue in its good works.
According to Yotam, the school is the third and first nursery/primary school to receive the computer classroom donation under this project.
“As a way for Israel to support the Education sector of Nigeria; it is important to us that young children in schools have early access to technology.
“This enables accelerated learning and deepens understanding of difficult concepts.
“It is for the benefit and prosperity of both countries; the ties that exist between our countries today in areas of Culture, Arts, Agriculture, Security, Innovation and Education.
“The last two areas are reasons we are here today; in the current world of ICT, Education is both a necessity and investment, as today’s children are the future leaders of this nation.
“The State of Israel has faith in the importance of Education and in its future in Nigeria,” he said.
He said that the project would not have been possible without the cooperation and partnership of the Africa Division of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Skill-G Nigeria Ltd. and Innov8 hub.
Responding, the Director of RAIS, Mrs Charity Nedobolisa, expressed appreciation to the embassy for the donation of the facility, saying it would enhance e-learning.
“RAIS has always taught computer studies theoretically and the students had little hands-on experience with just a laptop, when we needed to buttress a point, but it was stressful and not effective.
“This has been a concern to the school management and it was discussed at the last Parents and Teachers Association meeting held in the school, on how to remedy the situation.
“I am amazed at this massive show of kindness, construction and donation of a fully equipped computer classroom.
“This will greatly advance the field of innovation and technology, in supporting the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics system of education for pupils, students and teachers of RAIS,” Nedobolisa said.
According to her, although the school comprised a total of 176 pupils made up of 93 females, 73 males and 14 teachers, there is the need for a medical facility amidst COVID-19 protocols.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the facility marked the third round out of ten Computer Classrooms donated, which consisted of 19- Computers and e-learning accessories. (NAN)
