West Ham beat Chelsea 3-2 on Saturday lunchtime thanks to a late goal from Arthur Masuaku, handing the Hammers their second league defeat.
Chelsea took the lead through Thiago Silva’s header just before the half-hour mark, before goalkeeper Edouard Mendy made an unusual and uncharacteristic error by fouling Jarrod Bowen after mishandling a back-pass.
Bowen equalized with a long-range strike 10 minutes into the second half, before Masuaku’s dipping cross beat Mendy to give the Hammers a 3-2 lead with just three minutes remaining in the 90.
With Liverpool and Manchester City still to play, David Moyes’ side gain a four-point cushion in fourth place and close to within six points of leaders Chelsea, who could lose their lead this weekend.
