Bukola Saraki Receives Lagos4Lagos APC Faction To PDP Ahead Of 2023 Election–The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, suffered losses on Saturday as a large faction called ‘Lagos4Lagos’ all defected to the opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
Numbering thousands, they were received and welcomed into the PDP by the former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, at an event organized at the group’s office on Adeniji Jones, Ikeja, Lagos.
Saraki has declared to contest the 2023 presidential elections and was twice governor of Kwara State.
Saraki, who is the Chairman of PDP National Reconciliation Committee, met with the defectors, who were led by its leader, Olajide Adediran.
The Adediran faction had in September 2021 held a parallel local government congress at different locations in the state.
The group had alleged impunity, imposition and marginalisation in the party for its action but the congress of the movement was not recognised by the Mai Mala Buni-led caretaker committee.
The Lagos4Lagos Movement had also been critical of the reign and stronghold of APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, saying no one has the right to impose governors and political office holders in the state.
Gale of defections continue to be witnessed across all political parties as politicians begin to strategize ahead of the 2023 election.
Political parties are expected to conduct their primaries towards presenting their candidates for the elections.
