MICHAEL CARRICK: Meet Manchester United Interim Manager

He is unproven as a manager. The game against Villarreal will be his first in the dugout in sole charge.

For many, Carrick is too closely aligned with Solskjaer to make a major difference, but this is an interesting chance for him to prove he can be his own man.

Carrick won’t come into consideration for the full time role.

United are working behind the scenes on a potential replacement for Solskjaer, although there is no timeframe on when this might be.

Biography

Michael Carrick retired from playing at the end of the 2017/18 season, bringing the curtain down on one of the most distinguished football careers in the modern era.
