Lt. Gen. Buratai Fires Back At CNN Over Investigative Report On Lekki Shootings – #LekkiGenocide—In reaction to the shooting of unarmed protesters at Lekki toll gate by members of the Nigerian Army, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, has insisted that it was professional in its conduct.
The Chief of Army Staff continues to maintain its stand that no protester was killed, and the only bullets fired in the air were empty shells, countering the investigation of CNN that proved otherwise.
The Genius Media recalls that the Lekki shooting stemmed from the nation wide end SARS and police brutality protest by Nigerians.
While receiving members of the House of Representatives committee on Army at the Army headquarters on Wednesday, he said:
“Let me assure you and all Nigerians that the Nigerian Army is a professional Army. We follow our rules of engagement. Nigerians should feel safe.
“We abide by rules of engagement and the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria.”
