BREAKING: Lewis Hamilton Equals Schumacher’s Record As He Wins 7th F1 Grand Prix—-Professional Mercedes driver, Lewis Hamilton has claimed world title number seven by taking the chequered flag as he equalled the record haul held by Michael Schumacher.
He finished ahead of team-mate Valtteri Bottas at the Turkish Grand Prix that allowed him to seal his fourth title in a row and claim the world championship.
Hamilton and Bottas qualified sixth and ninth respectively but the Brit had an excellent start while the Finn was sent spinning at the first corner.
It left Bottas near the back of the pack while Hamilton spent much of the early stages battling the Ferrari of Sebastian Vettel.
The treacherous conditions at Istanbul Park made for an entertaining race that ebbed and flowed. Reading the track proved key as drivers transitioned from wets to intermediates.
Hamilton’s racecraft, tyre management and experience proved to be the difference though as he took his 93rd Formula One win.
It was only last month that the 35-year-old registered his 91st win at the Nurburgring to equal the then record number of wins; a record he has since made his own.
And while world title number eight, which would set him apart in the history books, remains an appealing carrot Hamilton is yet to sign a new deal with the Silver Arrows.
Team boss Toto Wolff has maintained that they would sit down at the negotiating table once the world championship had been secured.
