PARTY DEFECTION: Mass Resignation Hits Ebonyi Over Governor Umahi’s Planned Quitting PDP For APC—–Governor David Nweze Umahi would never have envisaged that many of his appointees would resign from their positions immediately it became news that he was defecting from PDP to APC.
One of the appointees, the Commissioner for Inter Governmental Affairs, Hon. Chief Lazarus Ogbee Nweru addressed a letter to him outlining “for personal reasons” as to why he was resigning his position.
The resignation letter reads: “I wish to inform your Excellency that I have decided to resign my appointment as the Hon. Commissioner for Inter Governmental Affairs in the Ebonyi state government effective from today, Thursday, November 12, 2020.
“The reason for my resignation is personal as I thank Your Excellency for the opportunity given to me to serve as a commissioner in the state. I equally thank the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) family and my colleagues in the Executive Council for the cordial working relationship I enjoyed while in office as a commissioner.
“Please, be informed that the official car with chassis No. KMHJ3813DLU109706, Model-Hyundai Tucson Jeep, Colour-Metallic Ash and all other government property attached to my office are to be duly handed over to the Secretary to the State Government with immediate effect. May God Almighty bless you as we look ahead to a better Ebonyi state.”
Political speculators are of the opinion that more resignation should be expected from appointees of the governor in coming days, though many others have been pledging loyalty to the state government “while making consultations on their political future.”
