IGBO TENANTS NOT WANTED: How Nigerians Reacted To House Vacancy Notice [SCREENSHOT]—Segregation and cultural discrimination continues to rise in Nigeria and this is very much visible after it was revealed that a Lagos landlord barred Igbo people from renting his property.
One of the largest ethnic group in Nigeria, the Igbo people are a meta-ethnicity native to the present-day south-central and southeastern Nigeria and also Equatorial Guinea.
A Twitter user @therealMaryUfot shared a conversation she had with a real estate agent who was keen on knowing her state of origin, and upon revealing that she is from Akwa Ibom state.
The agent stated that she won’t be allowed to rent the property because the house is only open to non-igbo people, and people from Akwa Ibom are mostly Igbo.
“I have come again. So aside working class wahala, Lagos people still pick tribes too. We dey shout change and telling govt to do dis and that when within ourselves we hate ourselves.
So this story I heard of the hatred for Igbos in Lagos is real?
Biko point me to Igbos house”
