Nationwide strike: What police told NLC and TUC—In respect to the looming nationwide strike are directed by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Traders Union Congress (TUC), the Nigeria Police Force NPF has stated that it will obey and enforce the law concerning it.
Monday 28th of September is the slated date to protest against the hike in prices of petrol and electricity though the Federal Government secured a restraining order against the strike from the National Industrial Court.
The labour unions have however insisted that they will embark on the protests regardless of the court injunctions because they have not been served court orders. In reacting to this development, the police said they would be guided by the position of the law on the matter.
DCP Frank Mba, the spokesman of the force while responding to questions from journalists on Saturday, said: “What does the law say in this circumstance? We would enforce the law. That is the only thing I can say.”
