The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari in a memo dated Sept 16th, 2020, signed into law the Nigeria Police Bill 2020.
The Genius Media Nigeria report that he gave his assent of the bill to the National Assembly, through the Clerk of the legislature as reported in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.
This Act revokes the Police Act Cap. P19. Laws of the Federation, 2004 and provides for a more effective and well organised Police Force, driven by the principles of transparency and accountability in its operations and management of its resources.
It also provides an appropriate funding framework for thePolice in line with what is obtainable in other Federal Government key institutions.
