UNBELIEVABLE: AFCON Trophy Mysteriously Disappears From CAF Egyptian Headquarters—The Egyptian Football Association(EFA) has announced that the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON)trophy in its care has been stolen from it’s Cairo headquarters.
The Genius Media Nigeria recall that this recent development has been confirmed by Ahmed Shobir, who is the Former Egyptian Football Association (EFA) Vice-president and current ONTime Sports broadcaster in a statement that Africa Cup of Nations trophy mysteriously went missing from the headquarters of the EFA.
Shobier in his statement said “The EFA started looking for some trophies as they aim to put them in a notable museum inside the EFA”. “ However, the EFA was surprised to find that the AFCONtrophy was lost and decided to open an investigation.”
In the course of the investigation, an insider revealed that the trophy was in the possession of former Egypt captain Ahmed Hassan (He was the national team’s captain in 2008 in Ghana and 2010 in Angola). Hassan denied the statement saying though he kept the trophy at home after winning the Africa Cup of Nations title in 2010, he later returned it to the Egyptian Football Association in 2011.
