Nigeria Postpones Resumption Of International Flight, See New Date—The Federal Government has postponed the resumption ofinternational flights into and out of Nigeria from August 29, 2020, to September 5, 2020.

Nigeria shut its airspace to international travel on March 23, 2020, to contain the spread of COVID-19.

Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, had announced on August 17, 2020, thatinternational flights would resume on August 29, following pressures from the public for the resumption of the flights.

Nigeria Postpones Resumption Of International Flight, See New DateBut at Thursday’s briefing by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 in Abuja, the Director-General, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Musa Nuhu, declared that international flights would not resume as earlier announced.

A statement by the Federal Ministry of Aviation also confirmed the development.

The statement read;

“Regret to announce that the international flight resumption earlier scheduled to resume on 29th August has been shifted to 5th September 2020.”

Domestic flight operations began across the country on July 8 with the Lagos and Abuja airports while Kano, Port Harcourt, Owerri and Maiduguri airports reopened on July 11.
