Police operatives have taken over Edo House Assembly Complex in Benin City to forestall an alleged planned attack on the facility
Dozens of the security officials stormed the complex while patrol vehicles were stationed around the area.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), Ayoola Ajala, led the operation, which is ongoing.
It can also be confirmed that the situation at the EdoState House of Assembly has led to Governor Godwin Obaseki to cancel his State Campaign to Okpilla, Edo North today and returned to Benin City to monitor events as they unfold.
Although no official statement has been made by the authorities in Edo state on the development, our correspondent gathered that the deployment of the Police at the Assembly complex may not be unconnected with the impeachment of the Deputy Speaker of Edo State House Assembly, Hon Idaiye yesterday (Wednesday) in Benin City.
