In preventing the spread of COVID-19, The Director General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Chikwe Ihekweazu has encouraged Nigerians to wear Face Shield in addition.

With the growing trend of Nigerians using a #faceshield in place of a COVID-19 mask, the Director-General of the NCDC, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, said during an interview in Abuja that there is no evidence that face shield protects against Coronavirus.

According to the NCDC boss, there is evidence that a faceshield might reduce exposure in healthcare workers but not meant to function alone as protection.
