The Aide De Camp to the first lady, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, Usman Shugaba, has been released by the police authorities after he was arrested and detained last week following his faceoff with the nephew of President Buhari, Sabiu Yusuf.
Sabiu Yusuf, who also serves as one of the President’s Personal Assistant, was reported to have traveled from Lagos to Abuja on Monday, June 8 and drove straight to the villa where he resides but he was denied access by Shugaba and other aides of the first lady who insisted he goes into self-isolation at a different location since he was returning from Lagos which is the epicenter of COVID-19 in the country.
Yusuf allegedly refused and got the police to arrest Shugaba and other aides of the first lady.
Mrs. Buhari took to her Twitter handle on Friday, June 12 to demand the release of her aides.
According to sources in the Villa, Shugaba was released earlier on Monday, June 15 and has been reassigned to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, released a statement over the weekend, saying an investigation into the matter had commenced.
